Manual for the Video module
This module is coming soon.
Camera, capture card, screen or window right in the overlay – the app records, your streaming software doesn’t need its own source for it. Turn sources on and off by shortcut or button (the camera really turns off), green screen, round or framed camera, motion in the picture as a variable and photos at the push of a button.
What for?
With Video you show your camera, a capture card, a whole screen or a single window right in the overlay. The Ventoview app records and sends the picture to the overlay on your PC – your streaming software doesn’t need its own source for it. On top come frames, round shapes, green screen, switches to turn things on and off, motion as a variable and photos at the push of a button. The module is free.
How it works
- In the editor, click Video on the left and pick a ready-made element, e.g. Camera or Round camera. Or load a template.
- On the right under Video, choose what to show at Camera / source: camera, screen or window. “↻” reloads the list, e.g. after plugging in a camera.
- Set the quality (720p to 4K) and FPS (30 or 60). Shape, corners, frame and zoom are right below.
- Save and add the overlay to your streaming software as a browser source as usual.
Turning on and off
- In the app under Modules → Video → Settings, add sources to switch: one per line, e.g.
Cam | Ctrl+Alt+C. This becomes the variable{video_cam}(true/false). - In the element, pick the source at On/off via. When it is off, the picture disappears – and the camera really turns off after 10 seconds (the light too).
- Switch by shortcut (needs the Shortcuts module) or with the All sources on/off buttons in the editor under quick tests.
Green screen, mirror, motion, photos
- Green screen: drag the “Green screen (remove color)” effect from Effects on the left onto the layer. Set strength, soft edge and color fringe on the right; the color decides whether green or blue disappears.
- Mirror like in the camera app: under Transform → Mirror.
{videomotion}measures the motion in the picture (0–100),{videomoving}becomes true when there is a lot – e.g. to make a frame glow (template “Camera reacts to motion”).- Take photo (button or shortcut) saves a picture of the running camera:
{videophoto}shows it, the “Photo moment” template flashes with it.
Good to know
- A camera can usually only be used by one program at a time. If you show it through Ventoview, remove it from your streaming software.
- Each source is recorded only once, even if it is in several overlays.
- Ventoview finds windows again by their name, even after a restart. If the window is closed, the overlay tries again every few seconds.
- You see the camera in the editor too; until there is a picture, it shows a camera icon.
Needs the Ventoview app version 0.1.5 or later.
Getting started
- Activate the module (app or Home → Modules).
- In the app click “Set up overlay” on the module – or Open editor.
- Choose a template, adjust it, save it and paste the overlay link into your streaming software.
Settings
In the app click ⚙ on the module – or in the editor under “Settings”.
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sources to switch | One per line: name | shortcut | off. This becomes the variable {video_<name>} (true/false) – pick it in the “Live video” element under “On/off via”. “off” at the end = off on first start. Shortcuts need the Shortcuts module. |
| Shortcut: photo | Takes a photo of the running camera – {videophoto} shows it, e.g. in the “Photo moment” template. |
| Motion: when it counts as “a lot” | {videomoving} becomes true as soon as the motion in the picture (0–100) is above this – e.g. for an animation when you jump up. |
