Manual for the Video Channel Insights module
Your YouTube videos in full detail: views, watch time, second-by-second audience retention next to the video, traffic sources, search terms, audience and devices. Compare your own videos with each other and with public videos from other channels. Multiple channels and Brand Accounts – its own page, not an editor.

What for?
Video Channel Insights shows your YouTube channels in full detail – on its own page, without editor or overlay. See how every video performs, where viewers drop off, where they come from and who they are, and compare videos with each other.
How it works
- Open Video Channel Insights under Home and click Add channel.
- Sign in with Google and choose the channel or Brand Account you want to analyze.
- Tick both boxes (view the channel and view YouTube Analytics reports). Ventoview only reads, it can’t change anything.
- Add more channels the same way – switch between them at the top.
What you see
- Channel: subscribers, key metrics for the period (7, 28, 90, 365 days or lifetime), daily trend, content type, traffic sources, devices, playback locations, countries, age and gender, subscribers vs. non-subscribers, top videos.
- Videos: all uploads with search (titles and tags) and sorting.
- Video: the video to play, next to it title, tags and description. Audience retention shows moment by moment how many are still watching – click the curve to jump right there in the video. Plus YouTube’s rating compared with videos of similar length, search terms, which videos yours was suggested next to, external sites, devices, countries, audience, shared via and cards.
- Compare: up to 10 videos side by side. Pick your own from the list right there, add others by link. Compare your own videos from their publishing day (first 7, 28, 90 days or until today) – key metrics, daily views and retention on top of each other. Add other channels’ videos, e.g. from your role model, by link: for them YouTube only shows what is public (views, likes, comments, length, tags, description …).
Good to know
- All numbers come directly from YouTube. Ventoview doesn’t calculate its own metrics from them – that’s what YouTube’s rules require.
- YouTube often needs 1–2 days until all numbers for the latest days are in.
- Access stays in your browser. On another PC or browser, add the channels once again.
- Remove channel (× next to the channel) revokes access at Google and deletes it from the browser.
- Without a channel: View with sample data shows everything with made-up numbers.
Getting started
- Activate the module (app or Home → Modules).
- In the app click “Set up overlay” on the module – or Open editor.
- Choose a template, adjust it, save it and paste the overlay link into your streaming software.
