Connect
Profile, friends, lobbies, game editor and the stream window
Connect is where you play live with other streamers. A host opens a lobby, the others join, and everyone adds the stream window to their own stream. Connect explains how each game works right at the game – this page covers everything around it.
Who needs what
| You want to … | You need |
|---|---|
| Play along | Just an invitation. With an account you join under your name, without one as a guest with a name. |
| Add friends | An account and a Connect profile. |
| Build games | An account. |
| Open a lobby (host) | A Connect profile and Ventoview Pro. |
Profile
Under Profile you set your display name and your tag and, if you like, a profile picture, a short description, a profile color and your channels on Twitch, YouTube and Kick. Others find you by your tag. You can delete the profile at any time.
Friends
Under Friends you search for others by their tag and send a request. You invite friends straight into your lobby; the invitation appears for them under Lobbies. Anyone who bothers you can be blocked and reported.
Games
All game types are listed under Games. “+ New” starts empty, “With template” starts with ready-made content. Your games are under My games, where you can edit, copy and delete them.
Game editor
In the game editor, the separate area next to the tabs, you build your own game from building blocks:
- Views: For each phase of the game you decide what is shown on stream and what host and players operate.
- Blocks: Texts, images, cameras, buttons, inputs, timers, game boards and more, placed freely on the canvas.
- Rules: You write the logic as “When … and … then …”. Variables remember points, moves or lists, for the whole game or per person.
- Roles: The host plays along or only leads the game.
- Menu: Build what the host sets without the editor: questions, rules, colors and lists, right up to rounds with categories and fields. For your own games, “Set up” opens this menu. Sections can have a preview and can also be opened up for the lobby.
- All phases: Whatever is here shows in every phase, e.g. cameras and the title. Groups arrange blocks on their own, and position and size can be formulas, for example depending on the number of players.
- Test: Play your game right in the editor with simulated players.
The template “Category Clash (rebuilt)” shows all of this in a complete game.
“Save as file” puts the game on your PC as a .vcon file, including its images. In Connect you can then choose a game or load a file. The lobby of your own games looks just like all the others.
A .vcon file contains no program code. Still, only load files from others if you trust them – they can show content that doesn’t belong in your stream.
Lobby
- Click Open lobby on a game.
- Invite people: Copy invite link or invite friends directly. New link makes the old one invalid.
- When everyone is there, the host starts with Start game. A lobby holds up to eight players.
If the host is no longer in the lobby, it closes after 30 seconds, so a quick page reload is no problem. Lobbies without activity close after 12 hours.
Stream window
The stream window only shows what belongs in the stream. The host and all players can use it: Copy browser source link and add the link as a browser source in your streaming software (1920 × 1080), or Open stream window to view it. Anyone with the link can see the window, so don’t share it publicly.
Camera or picture
With Connect camera you appear in the stream window, picture only, without sound, so keep talking over your voice channel. Instead of the camera you can show a picture with Upload picture. Without either, your profile picture is shown.
The host can block the camera of individual people and set a picture for them, even in the middle of a game.
Chat
Every lobby has a Lobby chat for host and players. In team games each team also has a Team chat that only the team and the host can read. Neither is visible in the stream window.
Look
Under Look in the stream you set colors, background, camera frames and name plates. Restore defaults resets everything.
If something doesn’t work
- Camera stays empty in the stream window: The connection runs directly between the devices. A VPN or a strict firewall can block it. Disconnect the camera and connect it again.
- Invite link no longer works: The host may have created a new link, or the lobby is closed.
- Open lobby is missing: You need a Connect profile and Ventoview Pro.
